Ingmar Bergman (b. 1918)

Ingmar Bergman is Sweden's most renowned filmaker. In this picture, he is shown with two of his favorite actresses Liv Ullman and Bibi Andersson, who starred together in Persona. Bergman's films are often dark and brooding and focus on personal relationships. He has exerted a strong influence on other filmakers, most noteably Woody Allen.

Wild Strawberries Characters:

Professor Eberhard Isak Borg: Main character. Played by Victor Sjöström. His son is Evald. His dead wife is Karin.

Miss Agda: Borg's housekeeper.

Marianne: Borg's daughter-in-law. Travels with him to Lund.

Evald: Borg's son, also a doctor. Marianne is his wife.

Sara (1): Borg's love in his childhood whom he lost to his cousin Sigfrid.

Sara (2): A young girl who gets a ride with Borg and Marianne to Lund.

Victor: Sara (2)'s travelling companion. He plans to be a doctor.

Anders: Sara (2)'s second travelling companion. He plans to be a minister.

Sten Alman: Unpleasant man who is in a car accident.

Berit Alman: Sten Alman's unpleasant wife.

The Åkermans: Friendly couple at the gas station. Mr. Åkerman is played by Max von Sydow.

Isak's mother: A very old lady that Borg and Marian visit.

Karin Borg: Isak Borg's dead wife.

Uncle Aron: The old deaf man in the flashback sceen from Borg's youth.

Borg's 9 Siblings: Sigbritt, Angelica, Anna, Kristina and Birgitta (twins), Charlotte, Sigfrid, Benjamin, Hagbart.
