Södergran was a Finland-Swedish poet and a pioneer of Modernism in Scandinavia. She deliberately chose not to use rhymed verse, so that a metric structure would not hamper her ability to choose just the right word she wanted to use. She contracted tuberculosis at a young age and died at the age of 31. Copyright © 2001 Susan Brantly. All Rights reserved. |
