Wassmo is a Norwegian novellist who is best known for her "Tora trilogy" which outlines the life and disintegration of Tora, a young girl raised in the post-war years in Northern Norway. The first novel, The House With the Blind Glass Windows, has been translated. Wassmo's imagery and narrative style departs from realism. Wassmo's attention then turned to the 19th Century in Dina's Book, which has also appeared in English. The novel deals with the supernatural (such as ghosts) without blinking. "How Close is Close Enough" is a rare short story by this author.
