History of the Scandinavian Languages.

Following a survey of the development from Indo-European to Proto-Germanic, Proto-Scandinavian (ca. 200-ca. 600) and Common Scandinavian (ca. 600-1050) are considered in detail with emphasis on phonological and morphological developments and changes. Scandinavian runic inscriptions are studied as the principal sources of evidence for early Scandinavian.
