Introduction

This lesson examines the literary side of the Danish philosopher, Søren Kierkegaard. A Seducer's Diary is a text that is part of Kierkegaard's magnum opus, Either/Or. The story's narrator, Johannes, has turned seduction into an art form and turns his attentions upon the young and innocent Cordelia. The texts allows us to consider issues of Romantic irony and illuminates some of the Romantic era's attitudes towards women.
