Schwankmärchen is a mixture of the magic
tale and the fabliau.
A hybrid form that often adheres to Propp-R--you detect
the magic tale structure–but the protagonist may
have much in common with the trickster characters of
the fabliau. In addition, the discourse tends to be
closer to the fabliau than the magic tale. In some
cases magic plays a role ("The
Tinderbox") and some cases it is absent ("Clod
Hans")
