The Nature of Love and Obsession

 

 

Introduction

Andersen had made it as a writer, though he was still not completely happy. The one thing missing in his life was love. He met Jenny Lind and fell in love with her, but of course it never worked out. Her rejection of him was done in such a nice way that they were forever friends after. 

Andersen knew the obsessive mind, perhaps because he was obsessive himself.  These texts show a keen understanding of the obsessive mind and perhaps a little self irony as well.
