I teach first and second year Norwegian in the Scandinavian Studies Department. I have been teaching Norwegian and English as a Second Language for 20 years. I have my M.A. degree in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin.
I am married to a Norwegian (Tom Andersen) from Fredrikstad and we have two children, Andreas (17) and Mira (10). We have lived and worked in Norway, but have permanently settled in Madison.
My special areas of interest include second language acquisition, pedagogy, CALL (computer assisted language learning), issues in reading and writing and 20th century Norwegian prose. Other interests include German language and literature, cross-country skiing, biking, hiking and ethnic cooking.
